The Lake Erie Basket is the fourth in the Great Lake Series. The basket is woven on an oval pine base shaped like the lake itself. The base is stained and varnished with teal colors and has a grooved edge accepting 1/4" flat oval reed. The base is woven with round reed to secure in spokes, then diagonal weave with flat oval. Four rod wale weaves up the side, followed by twill weave, more four rod wale, then 3/4" flat oval for the rim, which is lashed with waxed thread in turquoise. Colors used are beautiful beach and water colors of turquoise, sand, dark blue, light blue, with sand cording for the rim filler. Also included in the kit is a stone from Lake Erie and the rock is connected to the basket via rock wrapping. Rocks will vary in size and shape.
